Wild Weekend Photos

I've loaded two zipped files of photos from this past weekend. The church lake has become a favorite spot for getting dragonflies inflight. But this Saturday's trip was better than usual with shorebirds, killdeer, a blue heron, and a surprise visit by a green heron. Wow!

Sunday found me getting more sun at Carriage Hill. I went for dragonflies as they hang out near the small boardwalk. But, again to my great surprise, and pleasure, a green heron was prowling the water's edge looking for minnows, frogs, and some very large water bugs. This heron seemed unafraid and, at one point, walked directly toward me on a dead tree trunk sitting in the mud. It almost came too close to focus on. You'll see a few head shots and partial body photos from some of the closest approaches.

There are a few hundred photos in total. These are but a small sampling.
