Total Solar Eclipse, April 8th, 2024

I've loaded a zipped file and a PDF file of the photos I shot during the total solar eclipse on April 8th, 2024. I've also included a timelapse video, which has not been "stabilized" yet. That consists of approximately 1,800 individual photos played back at 30 photos per second to build the timelapse video. There's also a section of "real time" video during the corona period from a second camera with the filter removed.

The photo zip file contains a small sample of photos throughout the eclipse and includes my favorite shots from the corona. Several solar prominences are visible and, if you look closely at the corona, you can see the curved white swaths where the erupting plasma pushes away from the sun and then is drawn back into the sun. I could color these more orange than white, but this is what the camera saw.

This was an awesome experience, and we couldn't have asked for nicer weather. Eventually I'll rework the video clip to stabilize it and will repost it with that notation. A couple of additional real-time video segments may also show up eventually. But this is a very busy time and doesn't leave a lot of free time for that additional work.
